Welcome to the Royal County of Meath!

Living in County Meath has inspired me to create my new watercolour artwork, "The Rare Meath Wagon." The wealth of heritage in Meath makes this county a truly special destination to explore. So, let’s hop on board "The Rare Meath Wagon" for a heritage-packed, fun-filled adventure around County Meath!☘️

Start with a visit to Trim Castle, Ireland's largest Anglo-Norman castle, built in 1173. Then, journey back 5,000 years to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Brú na Bóinne, which includes Knowth, Dowth, and Newgrange-ancient structures said to be older than the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. While exploring Meath's heritage trails, don’t miss the Hill of Tara and the Stone of Destiny, where the High Kings of Ireland were crowned in elaborate rituals centuries ago. Other historical sites worth exploring include Bective Abbey, Slane Castle, and the Hill of Slane.☘️

For some fun days out with friends and family, check out Boyne Valley Activities or visit Emerald Park (formerly known as Tayto Park), Ireland's only theme park and zoo.☘️

The county's many festivals will keep your calendar full: The Royal Meath Show, the Boyne Music Festival, the Trim Haymaking Festival, the Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival, and more. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the legendary rock concerts held at Slane Castle and be mesmerised by the spectacular Púca Festival, which celebrates the mystical world of Halloween.☘️
