Shadowmane emerged from a moment of quiet observation—one of those rare instances where light and emotion met just right. Inspired by the raw strength and silent depth of a solitary horse, looking deep and strong, with a quiet mystery that lingers long after the gaze.. This portrait captures both mystery and presence in equal measure. The name Shadowmane reflects the dark, flowing mane and the horse’s powerful, almost mythical aura.

This piece is part of my evolving series exploring a distinctive technique using charcoal on canvas, enhanced with soft pastel for tonal richness and subtle layering. The process involves building multiple coats of carefully prepared surface treatments to create texture and depth. The final work is sealed with two layers of protective varnish, giving it a soft, refined sheen while ensuring long-term durability—much like an oil painting.
